Professional Golf Couse Photography

About Ken

I have had a camera in hand since my Senior Year at Florida Atlantic University. As the Editor-in-Chief of the University Yearbook, I was entitled to a camera system along with the newspaper’s darkroom. During college and after, photography became a passion. Years later it became a profession. As a university graduate, Biology was my major, however my passion steered me to obtaining professional experience as a photographer’s assistant for “Richard Hoch Photography,” “Ian Barr Photography” and “4X5 Studio” all located in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. A result of a few years assisting these industry leaders I gained experience in lifestyles, tabletop, architectural interiors and exterior photography. During that time period one of my personal assignments was to photograph the late, great Alice Dye for her application to the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Having been a close friend of her youngest son PB for nearly a decade, Alice and I developed a relationship as well. She became my mentor and coach. She openly critiqued my images and helped me improve golfing skills as well as my golf course photography techniques. I began my career as a golf course photographer working for her oldest son, the late Perry Dye as his Staff Photographer and Marketing Coordinator. Today, I am recognized in Golf Industry’s, www.worldwidegolfshops.com in an article entitled “Top Golf Photographers.” I have over 30 National and Regional Magazine Covers. My images can be seen in numerous publications.

In 2021, I was Certified as a FAA Qualified “Remote Pilot.” Capturing images with a drone is exciting. I enjoy all phases of photography making memories come alive. I am a Floridian living in beautiful Palm Coast. Contact Rolling

I have had the pleasure of working with Ken May on multiple projects to date. I was recommended to contact Ken by Perry Dye years ago, and it’s been one of the best things we ever did for our golf course and membership. Ken was monumental in assisting us with adding epic golf photography and action shots for our clubhouse decor. He helped us transform rooms in our facility from being plain and boring to having a wow factor to potential and existing customers. Ken is tremendous to work with and is quick to deliver. He is an expert when it comes to anything regarding Pete and Alice Dye. I can’t recommend working with Ken enough.

Ken has taken photos of our golf course in multiple seasons and has always been a pleasure to collaborate with. We even recently did some drone footage that turned out better than we could have imagined. Ken is also great at editing so in case you have a shot that needs some touchup, he can fix that too. We had a series of photos taken after a storm, but Ken is so good at his profession that you couldn’t even notice. Ken knows his way around a course and won’t disrupt play or need to be managed once onsite. Ken makes any golf shot look like it should go on the cover of a golf magazine.

I have known Kenny May for more than three decades. We first met when the company I worked for shared office space with late golf course architect Perry Dye of Dye Designs. Ken was Perry’s chief photographer.

As a commemorative book publisher, I first worked with Ken when I was developing the 75th-anniversary book for Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver. He did a fantastic job photographing the golf course as we created two-page spreads of each hole. Additionally, Ken photographed specific interior clubhouse shots as well as several of the club’s Diamond Anniversary events. Ken came back in the fall of 2020 to re-shoot the golf course as well as capture interior shots of much of the club’s memorabilia in the old clubhouse for use in the Cherry Hills’ 100th-anniversary book published in 2023.

In 2021, I again brought Ken on board to shoot the Cape Arundel Golf Club course located in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the club’s 125th-anniversary book. There were numerous comments from longtime club members regarding the spectacular and unique quality of the golf hole images.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ken and Rolling Greens Photography. Ken has a special eye when it comes to golf course photography. His calm demeanor, creativity, timeliness of turning around a work product, and coming in on budget have made working with Ken and Rolling Greens Photography a real joy. At the end of the day, experience and follow-through on a work assignment mean everything in the publishing field. Ken provides that and so much more.

Ken photographed more than a dozen golf courses for Arnold Palmer Design during my 26 years with APD. His work was excellent and very creative. Recently he created a wonderful color pencil portrait of the Par 3 8th at RainDance National Golf Club at latest creation in Windsor Colorado.
